Jump Up!
During a summer visit to St. Croix we had seen banners around town advertising, "Jump Up". It looked like it promised to be a lot of fun. We were already having more fun then we expected given that it was the off season in St. Croix, and this street festival was an extra bonus. It was getting late in the day and activity started to pick up.
There were bands playing on many of the street corners and it was nice hearing the different types of music as you walked around Christiansted. There were also Cruzan Rum stands galore.
There were many other activities going on as well. There was a bachelor's
auction benefitting the Boys' and Girls' Club of St. Croix. Women bid on
the local eligable bachelors and received a dinner date with them. There
was a lot of excitement and laughing going on.
Later that night we heard the whistles and witnessed the arrival of the Moko Jumbies.
